Springfield City Water, Light & Power Receives
2009 Safety Award

On December 17, 2009, the Illinois-based National Safety Education Center, an OSHA Training Institute Education Center, awarded its 2009 Safety Excellence Award to the Safety Leadership Council at City Water, Light and Power (CWLP) in Springfield, IL. This award is reserved for those employers who have shown dedication to their employees through their commitment to providing ongoing safety and health education.

Between the summer of 2008 and the fall of 2009, CWLP trained approximately 477 employees in the 10-hour OSHA General Industry Outreach course. They additionally trained over 112 supervisors in the 30-hour OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry course. The CWLP Safety Leadership Council was established in June, 2007 by General Manager Todd Renfrow with the primary goal of improving workplace safety in all areas of CWLP.
