The Public Interest Law Society is a student-run organization dedicated to the development of public interest law awareness and opportunities within the legal profession. PILS is a local chapter member of Equal Justice Network (EJN), which is a national coalition of law student organizations that raise money through auctions and other events on their campuses in order to offer grants and other forms of assistance to students and recent graduates engaged in public interest law employment, particularly during the summer. As a clearinghouse and public education center, EJN works with member organizations to create public interest legal employment and training opportunities, remove the economic barriers that confront future public interest lawyers, and provide informational and inspirational resources for public service work.
